Workers: Protecting Those Who Power Our Communities
Hard work should be rewarded with dignity, security, and fair opportunity. Too many workers today face stagnant wages, rising costs, and jobs that don’t provide the benefits they need to support their families. Our economy is only as strong as the people who keep it moving, and it’s time to make sure they have the protections and respect they deserve.
Economy: Building Opportunity and Shared Prosperity
A strong economy is one that works for everyone—not just the wealthy or well-connected. Too many families are working harder than ever yet still struggle to keep up with the rising cost of living. We need an economy that rewards hard work, sparks innovation, and invests in communities so that prosperity is widely shared.
I believe we must:
Raise wages and protect fair pay – so that a full day’s work provides enough to live on, not just get by.
Expand access to benefits – including affordable healthcare, family leave, and retirement security, because no one should have to choose between caring for a loved one and keeping their job.
Strengthen workplace protections – ensuring safe conditions, fair scheduling, and strong enforcement against exploitation, harassment, and discrimination.
Support workers’ rights to organize – because collective bargaining gives employees a real voice at the table and helps raise standards for everyone.
Invest in the future of work – providing training and upskilling so workers can adapt to new technologies and industries without being left behind.
When we protect and empower workers, we strengthen families, communities, and our economy. Respecting labor isn’t just about fairness—it’s about building a future where hard work truly pays off.
Support small businesses and entrepreneurs – by cutting red tape, expanding access to capital, and creating a level playing field so local businesses can thrive.
Invest in infrastructure and innovation – from roads and broadband to clean energy and advanced manufacturing, creating good jobs today while building the industries of tomorrow.
Promote fiscal responsibility and smart investment – ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent wisely, with a focus on programs that strengthen communities and grow opportunity.
Keep our workforce competitive – through job training, trade schools, and higher education that prepare people for the high-demand jobs of the future.
Build an economy from the middle out – because when working families have more money in their pockets, they spend it in their communities, driving sustainable growth for everyone.
A healthy economy is not measured only by corporate profits, but by the stability of working families, the strength of local businesses, and the opportunities available to the next generation.
Healthcare: Expanding Medicaid and Strengthening Communities
Every person deserves access to affordable, quality healthcare. Yet too many families are still left behind, facing impossible choices between paying for care or covering basic needs. Expanding Medicaid is the most direct, effective way to close this gap and ensure healthier communities across our state.
I believe we must:
Expand Medicaid coverage – so working families, veterans, and low-income individuals can access care without fear of financial ruin.
Reduce costs for everyone – by prioritizing preventive care, which keeps people healthier and saves taxpayer dollars compared to emergency-only treatment.
Strengthen hospitals and rural providers – ensuring they have the funding and stability to continue serving their communities.
Protect families from medical debt – because no one should face bankruptcy simply for getting sick or injured.
Invest in mental health and addiction services – recognizing that true healthcare must also address these growing challenges.
Expanding Medicaid is both a moral obligation and a smart investment. It protects families, supports communities, and builds a stronger future for all of us.
Immigration: Fairness, Security, and Opportunity
America has always been a nation of immigrants, strengthened by the contributions of people who come here seeking freedom, safety, and opportunity. We need an immigration system that is fair, orderly, and consistent with both our values and our security.
I believe we must:
Secure our borders responsibly – using smart technology and resources to keep communities safe while treating people with dignity.
Provide a fair path to citizenship – for law-abiding immigrants who work hard, pay taxes, and contribute to our communities.
Support Dreamers and families – ensuring that children brought here through no fault of their own can build their futures without fear of being torn from the only home they’ve ever known.
Protect American workers – by enforcing labor laws, preventing exploitation, and ensuring employers don’t undercut wages by abusing undocumented labor.
Modernize the system – reducing backlogs, improving efficiency, and creating a process that reflects the realities of our economy and workforce needs.
A fair immigration system is not just about policy—it’s about who we are as a nation. By balancing security with compassion, we strengthen our economy, our families, and our shared future.
Education: Investing in Our Future
Education is the foundation of opportunity and the key to a strong community. Every child deserves access to a quality education, no matter their family’s income or zip code. Our future depends on preparing the next generation with the tools they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
I believe we must:
Make education affordable and accessible – from early childhood through college or skilled trades. Families shouldn’t be burdened with lifelong debt simply because their children pursued learning.
Invest in teachers and classrooms – ensuring educators are supported, respected, and provided the resources they need to teach effectively.
Strengthen pathways to careers – by expanding vocational training, apprenticeships, and partnerships with local employers, so that students have multiple routes to success beyond traditional four-year degrees.
Prioritize equity and opportunity – because no student should be left behind due to financial hardship, underfunded schools, or outdated infrastructure.
Education is not an expense—it is an investment in our children, our economy, and our democracy. By putting students first and ensuring affordability, we build a future that benefits everyone.
Early Childhood Development & Literacy: Building Strong Foundations
The earliest years of life set the stage for a child’s future success. Every child deserves access to quality early learning, healthcare, and support, regardless of their family’s income. Investing in early childhood development reduces poverty, increases literacy, and strengthens our communities for generations.
I believe we must:
Expand access to high-quality early learning – including preschool and childcare programs that prepare children for lifelong success.
Support families in need – with nutrition, healthcare, and social services that give every child a fair start.
Increase literacy and learning opportunities – ensuring children are reading on grade level and equipped with the skills to thrive academically.
Break the cycle of poverty – by providing educational foundations that lead to better jobs, higher earnings, and stronger communities.
Invest in educators and caregivers – recognizing the critical role they play in shaping young minds and nurturing healthy development.
Strong foundations today lead to stronger families, safer neighborhoods, and a more prosperous future for everyone.
Seniors: Protecting Security and Dignity
Our seniors built the communities we live in and deserve to age with dignity, security, and access to the care they need. Social Security, affordable prescription drugs, and support services are not optional—they are essential to honoring their contributions and ensuring a stable, healthy retirement.
I believe we must:
Protect Social Security and retirement benefits – ensuring seniors can rely on the programs they’ve paid into for decades.
Lower prescription drug costs – making medications affordable and accessible without forcing seniors to choose between health and other basic needs.
Expand access to healthcare and support services – including preventive care, home health, and long-term care options.
Strengthen protections against elder abuse and financial exploitation – because seniors deserve safety and respect in all aspects of life.
Support programs that enhance quality of life – from transportation and housing to social engagement and mental health services.
Caring for our seniors is not just a responsibility—it’s a reflection of the values we hold as a community and as a nation.
